What Do YOU Want?

Good afternoon! How is the goal setting going? Usually when I ask that question I see the odd person who kind of glazes over and get's a distant look in their eyes - a sure sign that they've been too busy to set those goals they've been putting off doing. Don't worry, if you're one of them, you are not alone!

Sometimes, all that needs to happen to get something done, is a quick change in the way you approach it. I want you to try something with me. Just hear me out, it shouldn't take too long! I'm not giving up on you, and I know you're going to stick with it, so I'm going to help you make an "I Want" list. We're going to figure out what YOU want.

Grab a piece of paper and make 3 columns on it. Label 1 - 10 on each. Go ahead, I'll wait.

Ready? Okay, here are the titles for the top of each column - Be, Do, Have.

Now, make a list of items under each title - try to get at least 10. For instance, under "Be" - I might put " a loving husband" or "a great dad". Maybe under "Do" would be "go golfing once a week" and finally under "Have" I might put "convertible Ford Mustang". You get the idea right? Great - now go do it!

. . . . . . .

Guess what? You just made your starting list of goals. That was easy wasn't it? Now you need to look at them again, prioritize them, and turn them into SMART goals. You don't have to use them all at once, or even at all, but this little exercise should give you a great start on that goal setting you've been putting off.
