Celebrate Olympic Success, and YOUR Success

Tonight is the big night - the opening of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. I can't  help but feel proud as I watch all the athletes sporting their red mittens, ready to show off what their years of hard work and dedication has erupted into.

I encourage everyone to grab your families & friends, and sit down together to watch the event that most interests you. Celebrate the athletes' as they succeed. Watch for the little successes too - success doesn't always equal a medal. Success can be overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles, preserving through injuries, and certainly, simply earning a spot on the Olympic team for your country.

When the event is over, and the excitement is settling, I want you to answer this question for me. . .

When was the last time you stopped to celebrate your successes?

We often get so caught up in the day to day, that we forget to stop and congratulate ourselves on our successes - big and small. Not just ours, but our friends and family's success as well. Remember, success doesn't always mean a big win - success has many faces.

Pick up the phone and call your friend and see what things have been going well for them lately. Congratulate them on their success. Do you have children? Celebrate when they do things right. Tell them you are proud of them. Do you work with a team? Don't forget them! When things go right, stop for a moment, and say good job!

Now, do the same for yourself. Start celebrating all the things that go right, let go of those things that don't, and make the choice to be a positive person to yourself, and to others.

Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the Olympics, and join me in celebrating!
