Adding Value
I want you to take a moment to ponder this . . .
What do you do in your life to add value to this world? What could you be doing to add value to the world?
These don't have to be monumental things. We often get caught up in the "I can't make enough of a difference" concept, that we forget to try. Like the starfish story I posted in an earlier blog, we need to focus on what we can do to make small differences every day.
Do you do work that helps others in some way? Do you make an effort to help others? Do you volunteer your time? Do you smile at strangers and thank people when they help you?
Here is an example. I was out for dinner with a large group not long ago, and a server was clearing off the table as our plates emptied. The majority of people at the table smiled and said thank you, but the odd one didn't. It made me wonder - why? If that were you doing your job, wouldn't you appreciate a thank you, or at least a smile for doing your job? Again, here we have a simple gesture, that doesn't cost a penny, and yet not everyone takes that opportunity!
Please, stop and think - what do you currently do to add value to the world? What could you be doing to add value? Don't think on a grand scale, just try to make a difference one thing at a time.
Speaking of changing the world, make sure you visit the Happiness Pandemic site and help us change the world for the better, one smile at a time. It's our little way of "adding value" into the lives of others.
