Seven Steps to Thinking Better: Your Brain Power Boost

If you had an opportunity to boost your brain power would you say no? Of course not. We’d all love to think better, react better and appear more knowledgeable. Here are a few steps to get your started.

  1. Engage yourself in a Regular Exercise

You don’t have to bench press 300 lbs. and master 50 chin ups, a simple walk or job will do. It may not seem like an intense full-blown work-out to you, but your body and mind will appreciate the activity it is getting while you become physically fit.

Why should we be working out? A session of simple exercising triggers the release of neurochemicals known as endorphins. These chemicals are the same chemicals that allow us to feel happy. By feeling happier you will have a positive effect on your brain.

  2. Supplement your Diet

Natural supplements are known to have a good effect on your body, including your brain. Most people recognize supplements for creating a more healthier you, what some people forget is that they also help keep your brain fit. Supplements are very popular and can be found in your local health and food stores or online.

  3. Use your Brain

Most people know that exercising our bodies is good for us, but we often forget to also exercise our brains. We tend to use our brain muscle more often when we are thinking and learning. Some healthy exercises for our brains are reading, crosswords, talking with other people or even playing educational games. Any activity that gets you thinking and responding will work effectively.

  4. Play Games

They relieve stress, get us laughing, and lets face it, have a great effect on our brain. Whether it’s a strategic family game or a computer game, choose something that will keep you thinking and your brain working harder. There are tonnes of games out there from board games to computer games to new console systems. Do a little research and find something that works to not only boost your brain, but also entertains you.

  5. Enjoy an Educational Hobby

Spare time doesn’t come by often, but when you do have some, choose a hobby that keeps you learning. A lot of hobbies start out basic and allow you to learn and grow your skills. Whether its knitting, woodworking or even cooking, choose a hobby that you enjoy most. If your hobby allows you to learn new things each time you perform it, you will be exercising parts of your brain that may not have been used before.

  6. Sleep Well

This one is often preached to us to stay healthy, stress free and, what we may not have realized, to keep our brains fit. Sleeping is the time when you body rebuilds and recharges itself. A rule of thumb is that we should be getting at least six to eight hours of sleep a day. Another rule, which most people probably don’t follow, is that we should be taking ten-minute power naps throughout the day. With the right amount of sleeps and naps, you will surely feel energized to take on more activities and face your challenges ahead. Do not deprive yourself of sleep and you will recognize how your brain functions better.

  7. Relax

Because of societies busyness and complexity, your brain is just as exhausted as your body. Thus, you should be taking time to relax and cleanse your mind of any worries and stresses that are overwhelming your thoughts. Some people go to spas, while other meditate to give their minds a break. Use whatever relaxation technique works best for you and you will notice how much better you feel and how prepared you are for the rest of your day. This is how you better your brain health and performance.
