Don't Forget To Focus On Yourself
We all want to succeed in our daily lives. At work, with our families, in our relationships, with our children, in our extra activities, it’s universal. We want to be able to feel like we are successful.
One of the most common stumbling blocks is how to get started, and how to make it happen. We look around and wonder what the first step is, or where to go next. Sometimes, we forget to look in the most important place . . . the mirror.
Take a moment today to ask yourself some important questions. Are you living a healthy lifestyle? Do you feel good about yourself? Do you feel energy and passion about what you do? Are you proud of who you are right now? Are you living your life in balance? Do you fill yourself frequently with as much knowledge as possible? Do you accept changes?
Prior to being successful at anything else in your life, you first need to take time to focus on you. If you are not feeling as good as you possibly can feel about yourself, you will continually struggle with feeling successful in all other aspects of your life.
Begin by thinking of what things you can do to make you feel good. Sit down with a piece of paper and a pen and make a list of what things you could start changing right away. Could you eat better? Sleep more? Exercise?
Next, make sure you have passion for what you are doing. If you've lost it, take steps to revive it. Or, if your passion lies in a hobby, make sure you are setting aside time in your schedule to act on that passion.
Take time to remind yourself of all the good things about you, and learn to celebrate who you are. Start a Success Journal to help remind you of all the steps you take on your journey.
Last, and perhaps most important, make time in your life everyday for just you. I always encourage taking time to read a book every day, or attend trainings or seminars, or even something simple like taking a 30 minute walk everyday to clear your head. You will know what works best for you, the key is making it happen.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing on everyone and everything else, we all do it. When that happens, remind yourself that everything must be in balance for success to happen, and that balance begins with you.
Remember, happiness is yours for the taking.
