Creating Positive Habits
Creating positive habits that will last, is much easier than breaking a negative habit. Every day you do things that are positive habits and you probably do not even know it. These habits were easy to start because they were good for you and you used repetition.
You probably brush your teeth every day, this is a positive habit that was formed when you were young. Some mornings or nights you don't even realize that you reach for your toothbrush, put toothpaste on it and started brushing your teeth, but you do it. This positive habit, was started when someone kept reminding you every day to brush your teeth. This is what it takes when creating positive habits, repetition.
The results from studies done in regards to creating positive habits, show that creating positive habits can be accomplished in as little as twenty-one days. In the process of creating positive habits, you will also benefit from eliminating some negative ones. Just by taking the first step of thinking about a positive habit, you may have already broken a pattern of thinking negatively.
Creating positive habits is a repetitive process. Just as you were reminded to brush your teeth, you need to remind yourself of the habit you want to create. Start by writing down the positive things that you want to create in your life. Maybe you want to eat healthier, exercise, spend less and save more money, or think more positively.
Write down what positive habit you want to create and how you feel you can achieve it. Take creating positive habits one at a time and you will notice that the others will be easier. For example, if you want to eat healthier you would write that down, under it you could begin a list of what foods you can change in your diet. Start with breakfast list what you eat now and what you could replace it with. Maybe bacon and eggs, can be changed to cereal and fruit.
Every morning you need to remind yourself to replace one food with another. When you are done creating positive habits for breakfast move on to lunch and then dinner. In a very short time, you will have completed your goal of creating positive habits for eating healthier.
In the process you may have starting feeling so much better that you began creating positive habits of exercising. If not begin the process the same way, write down what type of exercising you want to do and when you will be able to do it. This could be as simple as taking the stairs instead of an elevator. There is no need to start big. You do not need to join a gym right away, you can start with walking or the traditional sit-ups. The point is that when creating positive habits you do not make it hard on yourself.
When you are thinking about how to create positive habits, do less thinking and more doing. Sometimes it is the time spent considering the change, that causes you to give up before you even start.
